Nyingyang Monastery
In Bir, near the Nyingyang Monastery, paragliders land in a large grassy field. It is a quiet and charming monastery that exudes a sense of peace throughout. The monastic community lives in one part of the monastery, which is distinct from the rest of the complex and serves as the primary monastery. Both locations include wonderful paintings that offer a representation of elaborate patterns that illustrate aspects of Buddhist culture.
Choukling Monastery
Chokling Monastery in Bir, Himachal Pradesh, is often regarded as the most prestigious Tibetan Buddhist monastery. It was established by Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche and adheres to the Kagyu and Nyingma traditions of Tibetan Buddhism. One of Bir's most visited monasteries, Tsering Jong is a stunning example of traditional Tibetan architecture and design. Tucked up in the mountains, the monastery is home to a residential community, Tibetan monks, and an authentic Tibetan Cafe. A plethora of colorful prayer flags decorate the surrounding region, which is also lush with flowers and trees and offers stunning views of the snow-capped mountains.
